Find peace, and sweep away, holding in your hands an elegant piece of hand-made craftmanship

The traditional shaker art of broom making is alive and well and I invite you to enjoy a hand tied broomcorn broom from my Wisconsin studio. Hand tying of the broom is finished by hand-plaiting, or weaving, the broomcorn onto the broomstick with tarred twine; the broom is then stitched flat with hemp twine....no metal wire in these brooms. This is a fully functional broom meant for use. Features a leather strap. You will want to display this broom rather than lean in up in a closet!

I make these stunning brooms in the sizes of house brooms, hearth brooms and cobweb brooms.

The broomstick is what you hold in your hands and it should be warm and well made....ours are one-of-a-kind and make our brooms special and unique. We make our broom sticks in two main categories:

Handmade Local Hardwood Broomsticks: We make our local hardwood broomsticks from scratch and hand-plane them round. Broomsticks are then sanded smooth, finished with a hand-rubbed Tung Oil finish, and a leather strap is tied on. We make our own broomsticks from Black Walnut, Cherry, and Ash. Photos of these are on this page and inventory can be viewed on our Etsy store.

Natural Tree Branch Broomsticks: We forage for recently fallen hardwood tree branches in the woods in Merton and Door Country Wisconsin. The bark is left on, any sharp edges are smoothed, and the sticks are varnished. Occassionally we find a tree branch that looks unique and beautiful with the bark removed, and we occasionally offer brooms on tree branch sticks with the bark removed.

Here are four brooms in production in the studio. Photo gallerys of our brooms may be found below.

It starts with a wonderful and unique broomstick, ours are foraged in the forest or made with a plane by hand.
