The traditional shaker art of broom making is alive and well and we invite you to enjoy a hand tied broomcorn broom from our Wisconsin studio. This broom is hand-tied on a hardwood tree branch from a tree that fell down near our studio in Wisconsin. Tree branches are foraged, cut to length, knots sanded smooth, and are finished with varnish. Hand tying of the broom is finished by hand-plaiting, or weaving, the broomcorn onto the broomstick with tarred twine; the broom is then stitched flat with hemp twine....no metal wire in these brooms.
