Our blacksmith work goes on outside in cold weather!
Yesterday I fired up the forge to make some more blacksmith forged broom hooks. It was cold, but not very cold, about freezing, and a beautiful time to swing the hammer in the outdoor blacksmith shop. The contrast of the cold air and the red-hot iron makes for a special experience. The trick is to bring the anvil inside a day before, to warm it up, and to take it outside only when you start working, otherwise the frozen anvil sucks the heat out of the workpiece too quickly. Peace!
